The So Danca BL162 Satin Ballroom & Latin Dance Shoes have that lovely balance of elegance and wearability that makes a social dance shoe easy to fall for. Delicate satin straps sweep across the foot, supported by subtle mesh, while a 2.5" heel creates a more refined dance silhouette without taking BL162 into an overly demanding competition-shoe feel.
So Danca BL162 Personality
Elegant • Feminine • Supportive • Social-Ready
BL162 has a distinctly dressed-up personality, but it isn't intimidating. The satin gives it polish, the curved cross straps create a flattering line across the foot, and the discreet mesh underneath adds coverage and support without visually weighing the shoe down.
The three colours also give BL162 quite different personalities. Champagne is soft and understated, blending beautifully against the leg. Burgundy feels richer and more dramatic, while Black is the classic versatile option for dancers who want one shoe to work with almost everything.
So Danca BL162 Rikki Satin Ballroom & Latin Dance Shoes – Design & Performance
The most interesting part of BL162 is its strapping. Rather than leaving narrow satin straps completely unsupported, So Danca positions them over soft mesh panels. This creates a more contained feeling around the forefoot while preserving the delicate appearance of an open-toe dance sandal.
Even better, the main strap passes beneath the arch and can slide through the sole, allowing the dancer to adjust how the upper wraps around the foot. It's a clever detail that makes BL162 considerably more adaptable than its pretty exterior suggests.
The 2.5" shaped heel introduces more pitch than So Danca's low-heel social styles, creating a longer leg line and a more recognisable Ballroom and Latin position. An angled shank supports the foot through that higher position, while the broader shape of the heel keeps the shoe approachable for social dancing and developing dancers.
Underfoot, the suede dance sole provides controlled glide for turns and travelling movements, while a cushioned insole softens the feel during classes and longer social evenings. The finishing touch is So Danca's rhinestone easy buckle, combining a little sparkle with a practical quick-fastening design.

Dance World Notes
A useful step up from a low heel.
For someone comfortable in our lower social dance shoes who wants a more refined heel and longer leg line, BL162 is a very natural next direction without immediately moving into a more demanding professional Latin shoe.
That under-arch strap matters.
Because the main strap can slide beneath the arch, you have more control over how closely the upper wraps around your individual foot – a genuinely useful fitting feature rather than purely decorative strapping.
Dance World Fit Advice
Overall Fit
BL162 is a narrow-fitting dance shoe. The mesh-supported forefoot and adjustable strapping create a close, secure feeling rather than a roomy sandal fit.
Narrow Feet
We recommend beginning with your regular street-shoe size. The sliding under-arch strap is particularly useful for drawing the upper securely around a slimmer foot.
Regular & Wider Feet
We recommend starting approximately half a size above your regular street-shoe size. This gives a little additional room through the forefoot while retaining the close dance fit BL162 is designed to provide.
Check the Forefoot
The toes should reach naturally towards the front of the shoe without excessive overhang or compression. Adjust the sliding strap before judging the final fit – changing its position can noticeably alter how securely the upper wraps around the foot.
Dance World sizing recommendations are intended as a starting point. Ballroom and Latin shoe fit is individual and can vary with foot width, toe shape, instep height and personal preference.
