JZ97 has considerably more personality than the average black practice shoe, but its design is surprisingly sensible. The monochrome Oxford detailing gives it a vintage feel, while the low heel and lace-up construction keep everything secure and uncomplicated underneath.

It's a particularly nice choice for dancers who want their practice shoes to look a little different without sacrificing proper dance-floor function.

The full suede sole is the most important technical feature of JZ97. It provides the familiar balance of glide and traction expected from a traditional Ballroom practice shoe, allowing turns, pivots and travelling steps without the resistance of an everyday street shoe.

Unlike some of the higher Cuban-heel practice styles we've looked at, JZ97 sits very close to the floor on its 1" / approx. 2.5 cm heel. That creates a particularly stable, grounded feeling and makes it a useful option for long practice sessions, teaching or dancers who simply prefer less heel beneath them.

The soft PU upper keeps the shoe lightweight and flexible, while traditional Oxford lacing gives useful adjustment through the instep. The shoe has a relatively neat fit, so although it runs generally true to size, dancers with a broader foot may find the shape less accommodating.
